  • Directly from you when you complete the Website registration process.
  • Directly from you when you provide your personal information to assist the Treasury or the Treasury's partner agencies to consider you for appointments to the boards of the entities monitored by the Treasury and Treasury’s partner agencies.
  • In the course of receiving questions, comments or other communications from you including about anything on this Website. We may also keep a record of any information that you acquire from us.
  • Indirectly through your use of this Website and the services and functionality offered through it.
  • The Treasury and its partner agencies (if applicable) will also record details of its interactions with you, including evaluative material and associated business processes.

2. Use of personal information

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Considering you for appointment to boards monitored by the Treasury.
  • Where you have authorised us to do so in your account settings, the Treasury’s partners agencies may access and use your personal information to consider you for board positions supported by these partner agencies, and the Treasury may nominate you to be considered for governance roles at other organisations.
  • Replying to your queries.
  • Processing your registration application.
  • Providing you with information about us and our services.
  • Providing you with services in relation to this Website.
  • Complying with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Any specific purpose which the Treasury (or the Treasury’s partner agencies) notify you of at the time personal information is collected.
  • Administering, evaluating and improving this platform.
  • Managing and developing best practice procedures for board appointments.

3. Disclosure of personal information

Your personal information may be disclosed to:

  • Ministers of the Crown and their offices, where you are being considered by them for an appointment to boards administered by the Treasury or the Treasury’s partner agencies.
  • The Treasury’s partner agencies and other organisations, where this has been authorised by you (in your account settings).
  • The Chairs of boards, and the companies, entities or other bodies themselves if you are being considered for appointment and/or if you are appointed.
  • Credit agencies and referees prior to the confirmation of any appointment to undertake any pre-vetting checks.
  • Other persons, for consideration by them for appointments to boards of other bodies, where this has been authorised by you.

4. Our Partner Agencies and other organisations

Where you have authorised us to share your information with the Treasury’s partner agencies, through your account settings, your information will be disclosed to such agencies for the purposes listed above. This will allow you to be considered for a wider range of roles. Further, where you have authorised us to do so, through your account settings, the Treasury may nominate you to be considered for governance roles at other organisations. Where the Treasury has shared your personal information with another agency, that agency is also responsible for holding the information and maintaining it in a manner that complies with the Privacy Act 2020.

5. How we store personal information

We store personal information electronically by a cloud-based service provider located in Australia who holds the information as agent for the Treasury. Your personal information will be kept safe and secure using generally accepted standards of security.

6. Cookies

We may use "cookies" to provide you with access to tailored information and services on this Website, and to serve you better when you return to it. A cookie is a small data file that the Website sends to your browser, which may then store it on your system for later retrieval by the Website. Cookies track your movements through different websites; they do not record any other personal information about you. Your emails and contributions to the Website may constitute public records and be retained to the extent required by the Public Records Act 2005. The Treasury may also be required to disclose those materials under the Official Information Act 1982, or to a Parliamentary Select Committee or Parliament in response to a Parliamentary Question.
